Planning
- When planning doctor’s visits or family trips, refer to the school calendar and choose days when students are out of school to minimize absences.
- Make sure the school has your correct contact information throughout the year.
Communicate
- Let the school know when your child will be out and why.
- Send in notes to the front office or use our online form.
- Send a Remind message or e-mail to your child’s teacher.
- Call the school and talk to the school secretary.
Respond to Messages
- Parents/Guardians will receive a Possip Check-In Text when students have missed more than 3 days within a quarter.
- When students have 5 unexcused days, the school must send out a Truancy Letter. Sign and return the letter.
Monitoring
- At 7 days absent (whether unexcused or excused), the parents/guardians and the School Attendance
- Team must create a plan to improve school attendance.
- A follow-up will happen after 2 weeks, 30 days, and 60 days.
Parents can check on their child’s attendance through the Campus Parent Portal.
